Animation Station 2.0 gave musicians an intelligent Step Animator engine for building arpeggios and step sequences. AS Pro goes further. It is now a virtual instrument plugin that hosts your instruments and effects inside itself, then animates both with the same step sequencers, LFOs, and arpeggiators that made the original engine famous. Load an instrument, load an effect, and animate every parameter that matters, all without leaving the plugin.

The sequencer and the FX engine work independently. Use AS Pro as a pure arpeggiator with no effects loaded at all, animate a static sound with no sequencing, or run both at once. Picture building a drama c string ostinato with the arpeggiator, running it through a hybrid distortion chain, then using an LFO to make the sound wobble, evolve, and come alive. A Universal Instrument Host
At its foundation, AS Pro is a home for any virtual instrument. Load a VST or Audio Unit instrument directly inside the plugin and it becomes part of the animation engine instantly. No routing, no extra tracks, and no compromise on the instrument’s own sound.
Bring VST Instruments into Logic Pro
Logic Pro only loads Audio Units, which has long locked out any instrument or effect that never received an AU version. Because AS Pro hosts plugins internally, VST-only instruments and effects, including older or niche titles that were never ported to AU, can be played and animated inside a Logic session for the first time.
An Intelligent MIDI Sequencer & Arpeggiator
The sequencing engine that made the original Animation Station a favorite carries forward into Pro. Real-time ABCD pattern switching lets you flip between four patterns on the fly, complete with key switch assignment and the right-click copy, paste, and reset tools. Set the length and attributes of each step independently, randomize on the fly, or grab a single step and move it within the sequence, now applied across instruments and effects alike.
An FX Animation Engine
Effects deserve motion too. Host your favorite audio effect plugins inside AS Pro and animate their parameters with the same step sequencers, LFOs, and arpeggiator engine used for instruments. A filter sweep, a delay throw, or a reverb swell can breathe and evolve instead of sitting static.
Work Smarter, Not Harder
Despite the added power under the hood, Sample Logic has kept AS Pro’s workflow straightforward. Customizable key switches, advanced mod-wheel modulation, octave and chromatic transpose modes, and infinite pattern randomization all carry forward from 2.0, so anyone who has used the original engine will feel at home from the first click. Your existing library comes with you as well. The full “Breaking Borders” collection designed by Ben Aylon carries over from 2.0, now available across both the MIDI and FX Animation engines.
